Worked on nine manuals (Installation, Administration, CPL developers guide, SSP users guide, OSS Interface guide, Troubleshooting guide, PSM Users guide) for a complicated telephony application on Unix including some API work (principally the development manuals). Changed manuals to FrameMaker from M.S. Word. Knowledge of CPL and setting up templates in FrameMaker 6.0, as well as all necessary filter packages. Also XML manuals (api)… and some Java.

- Wrote three manuals on a Unix/Oracle/Sap/Web-based series of B2B supply chain programs. Produced online help from the manuals, compiled CHM files and created PDF files from Release Notes, Installation Manuals and Administration manuals. Some API writing. Release schedule was easily daily. (Contract, extended then laid off; along with several thousand others)

- Designed ultra simple online help system for Kovair on a B2B oracle-based product designed for the public. As such the system must be written at the simplest level. Product is also a partially wireless product and required some knowledge of WML. Some Java, also.

Audience is highly technical (engineers) Work was not new but was a recreation of an existing manual for six different chip sets.

- I taught college for 12-15 years at a variety of California colleges, including Dominican college and Skyline College. I mostly taught computer applications.
- During that same period of time, I had a private
- consulting firm that specialized in training and database development, working principally with biotech companies [Chiron, Biorad, etc]. (about 10 years).
- Other writing jobs include a variety of startups from 1991-1997, also, included a daily and monthly computer column for a local paper.
- Wrote a variety of trade books for peachpit press and others.
- Wrote a variety of procedure manuals for the USPS, and supervised around 5,000 people.
- Wrote a manual for keying entries into a very complicated and first-of-it’s-kind database, and supervised around eight to twenty people, depending on the season for Richard Abel and Company in Portland, Oregon.
