Memorial Day

Jason just finished his first year of cub scouts and was requested to march in the Memorial Day Parade. He marched proudly with his friend, holding a poster that said "Thanks Vets".

After the parade, I asked him if he new what memorial day was all about. It turned out he had been thinking all this time it was to thank the veterinarians!

Young and Old

We were visiting the IHop restaurant. When the friendly waiter came to serve the meals, he announced: "A smiley face for the YOUNG lady". "Fries and chicken fingers for they YOUNG man".
Then he put Victor's meal in front of Victor. He said nothing...

Jason looked up, wondering what the waiter was going to say. When the waiter didn't say anything, he helped him out: "and this is the meal for the OLD man"!

Don't worry mom...

We were in a store standing at the checkout when the Jason and Sare suddenly decided they wanted to have a "fluffy ball". I explained them they already had similar pieces of light up plastics in the house and that they really didn't need another one.

Jason then replied. "I know what we can do, mom. We can put it on our Christmas list, like that you don't have to buy it!".

First Eucharist

I was explaining Jason that next year, he would do his first Communion.
He didn't really understand what I was talking about... "You know,..." I explained him "When you go to church and you see all the people going to the front, they are receiving Jesus in Holy Communion".

"Oh", he replied. "Will I get to drink Holy Water too?".

The conclave

A new pope had to be elected and I tried to explain the whole procedure, which is quite interesting. The cardinals, locked up in the chapel, the smoke colors, etc.

After my explanation, Jason thought: "well, I hope there will be white smoke soon, so they can get out of there!".

The following day, he told me: "the smoke has to be white because God wants us to get along with each other".

Pizzatalk

The weather was getting better and I was hesitating to put a sweater on Jason because it was getting warmer. So I put him a T-shirt and a summer coat.
While he was walking to school, it still appeared to be a little chilly so he complained: "mommy, why did you put only one topping?"

The best chair

We went to Ikea to buy some furniture and we brought two little chairs home for Jason and Sara.
The chairs were identical and looked very comfortable to sit down and watch TV.
The next day, I was working in my office, when suddenly I hear loud screaming and yelling. I rushed to the living room where I saw Jason and Sara fighting as if their lives were depending on it.
I wrote their names on each chair, but that didn't seem to help.
They were really going to hurt each other, so I separated them and sent them to their rooms.
A little later, after Jason calmed down a bit, I asked him why he was fighting for the chair he wanted so much.
What was the reason for insisting to have that particular chair.
Still sobbing, Jason replied "Daddy told me I could have the left chair!".
Relieved, I switched the 2 chairs and ... the problem was solved.

Mommy, when I was born, how did you and daddy know my name was Jason?

Jason's Dilemma

Santa's coming! All the houses are getting decorated and the house on the corner of our street had a post that said: "Santa Stop Here!".

Jason saw that sign, he looked at it and frowned his eyebrows like if he were in deep thoughts. He also noticed that house was the first one on our street...

Then he asked me: "mommy, is Santa going to stop here first?".

A Special Garage Sale

The neighboring parish, Saint Mary's was holding a garage sale. The idea was to raise money for the youth to go to the next World Youth Day. So I took off with the kids and drove to that church looking for the sale. Jason was looking around and I explained him it had to be somewhere around the church. Then, I overheard a conversation between him and Sara where he explained: "Sara, Jesus is holding a garage sale!!!"

Sara's Birthday

It was Sara's birthday. Jason was proud that his sister was now 3 years old.
"Now, she knows everything, just like me!" he announced.
